The cultural level of a wine region can be most easily measured by such entry-level wines as this one. And this wine sets the bar very high. The name TRE is doubly true, on the one hand, it’s a blend of the estate's three main grape varieties (Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon), and on the other hand, the grapes come from three different areas of Brancaia (Castellina in Chianti, Radda in Chianti and Maremma).
“The wines of 2022 are concentrated with intense colour, excellent fruit and distinctly fresh flavours. I can say I’m very satisfied." – Barbara Widmer on the vintage.
The new vintage follows the previous one in terms of ideas, but the overall picture is even more colourful and even nicer. The bony, tannic structure characteristic of the variety (Sangiovese) is less dominant, while the strawberry jam and subtly smoky notes are given more space. It’s round, thirst-quenching, rich in detail and has everything you can expect from the best-known wine of a trendsetting Tuscan estate. This medium-bodied, best buy has terrific ageing potential.
Organically grown grapes, manual harvest, spontaneous fermentation, then ageing in concrete tanks and French barrels. For the sake of sustainability, it was bottled in a thin-walled, lightweight glass, and the mouth of the bottle is sealed by a biodegradable, 100% TCA-free cork.
