The cultural standard of a wine region is most easily measured by its entry-level wines, and this one sets the bar remarkably high. The name 'TRE' (meaning 'three') holds true in three ways. First, it’s a blend of the estate’s three main grape varieties (Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon). Second, the grapes come from three distinct areas of Brancaia’s vineyards (Castellina in Chianti, Radda in Chianti and Maremma). Third, it was chronologically the third wine to be introduced to the winery’s portfolio. The 2023 vintage delivers concentrated, deeply coloured wines with outstanding fruit expression and vibrant, fresh flavours. While staying true to the philosophical approach of the previous vintage, the overall profile is even more vivid and charming. The variety (Sangiovese) in this vintage shows less of the variety's typical bony, tannic structure, instead giving more prominence to notes of strawberry jam and subtle tobacco notes.
This wine is round, thirst-quenching and richly detailed, embodying everything one could expect from the flagship wine of a trendsetting Tuscan estate. A modern take on Tuscany’s classic character, whereby the foundations of Chianti are elevated by elegance, lush fruit and a finely polished structure. Easy to understand, medium-bodied and a Best Buy. Made from organically cultivated grapes, hand-harvested and spontaneously fermented, then aged in concrete tanks and French oak barrels. Sangiovese (70%), Merlot (15%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (15%).
In keeping with sustainable practices, the wine is bottled in lightweight, thin-walled glass and sealed with a biodegradable, 100% TCA-free cork.
