The cultural standard of a wine region is most easily judged by wines like this entry-level bottling, and this one sets the bar remarkably high. The name TRE is fitting in three different ways: first, it is a blend of the estate’s three main grape varieties (Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon); second, the grapes come from three different areas of Brancaia (Castellina in Chianti, Radda in Chianti and Maremma); and third, chronologically, it was the third wine in the winery’s history. The 2024 wines are concentrated, deeply coloured, with excellent fruit and particularly fresh flavours. Conceptually, the new vintage follows the previous one, but the overall impression is more vibrant and generous. The bony, tannic structure characteristic of the grape variety (Sangiovese) is less pronounced, while strawberry jam and subtle tobacco notes are given more room to shine. Rounded, thirst-quenching and full of detail, it delivers everything you’d expect from the best-known wine of a trendsetting Tuscan estate. The classic character of Tuscany in a modern style: the foundations of Chianti are enriched by elegance, pronounced fruitiness and a finely polished structure. Well-ageable, medium-bodied and a best buy. Made from organically-cultivated grapes, hand-harvested, spontaneously fermented, and then aged in concrete tanks and French oak barrels. In the spirit of sustainability, it was bottled in lightweight, thin-walled glass, and sealed with a biodegradable, 100% TCA-free cork.
