A blend of Trebbiano, or Procanico as they call the local clone, and the Grechetto varieties. The grape varieties are vinified separately, with the natural settling followed by precise, chilled fermentation. After blending, it spent a few more months in tanks before bottling.
It has a fresh, citrusy nose with yellow-skinned apple and pear, which also return on the palate, together with a long mineral finish.
The first Santa Cristina was bottled by Niccoló Antinori in 1946, but the independent estate has only been operating since 2006 in Cortona, Tuscany. Besides Vermentino, Greco Bianco, Trebbiano and Sangiovese, they also work with international varieties. The classic Santa Cristina is made as red, white and rosé.
