Lodovico Antinori first heard about the western, coastal Tuscan land from Dante Scanavino, the director of the legendary Ornellaia estate at the time. The view of the Tyrrhenian Sea, extending all the way to Corsica, combined with the complex soil (silty, sedimentary, with high clay content and rich in minerals), made it ideal for Cabernet Franc. Convincing the legendary consultant French winemaker Michel Rolland to join the project wasn’t difficult. In 2021, they achieved excellent balance with sufficient rainfall and a long summer. Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon in almost equal proportions, with a touch of Petit Verdot for spice. Precise fermentation in stainless steel tanks, followed by 15 months of ageing in new French barriques. Violet, plum and clove notes, with serious ageing potential. A deep, powerful and complex wine from one of the region's living legends.
Pomerol in Tuscany. Lodovico Antinori’s 40 plus-hectare estate on the border between Bibbona and Bolgheri, with the contribution of star winemaker Michael Rolland. The terroir recalls Pomerol and Saint Emilion, with complex and mineral soil, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot.
