The 2019 vintage did not hold any unexpected challenges, whereby the relatively cold winter was followed by the rainy April and May. After the hot summer, the September harvest in Chianti could begin under ideal conditions. The backbone of the wine is Sangiovese (85%), which is made separately from the other ingredients of the blend. It has a dark ruby colour, the flood of red berry fruit aroma on the nose is elegantly complemented by such floral notes as lavender. The wine has a long finish and velvety tannins.
The family’s wine history spans 26 generation since 1385, with novelties that defined the wine world, a network of estates on 1,000 hectares in Tuscany and Umbria, wine, brandy, grappa and olive oil. Books could be filled with the family’s history, and today they are one of Italy’s largest wine enterprises.
