A true milestone in the history of Marlborough, Cloudy Bay’s Pinot Noir marked a turning point: in a region once dominated by the slightly one-dimensional Sauvignon Blanc, the variety found a new home. Beyond broadening the range, it became one of the cornerstones of the New World Pinot style. This Pinot Noir comes from the finest fruit of the southern Mustang, Delta and Barracks vineyards. It undergoes 21 days of maceration in a gravity-fed winery, followed by malolactic fermentation and 11 months of ageing in French oak barrels (30% new). An unmistakable New World style with Old World nuances: expressive aromas of smoke and gunpowder, with rose petal and cherry. On the palate, it reveals already polished tannins, berry fruits and subtle oak spices and vanilla. A vivid example from the New World Pinot Noir landscape, with many years of ageing potential.

One of Marlborough’s first wineries – established in 1985 – which put New Zealand on the world wine map. It harvests Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, among other varieties, from the best vineyards and rare parcels from the plantations of two emblematic wine regions – Marlborough and Central Otago.
