Cloudy Bay makes its New World classic from raw material of over 90 different sites, with the grapes from each place of growth carefully selected and vinified separately. The majority undergoes controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks, while a smaller portion is spontaneously fermented in large oak barrels. From 81 tasted samples, 55 were ultimately blended, resulting in a truly complex final product. The pleasantly restrained nose features tropical notes, opening up to reveal apricot, lime, and orange blossom, while its intricate, vibrant palate showcases passionfruit, hibiscus, pink grapefruit, refreshing acidity and a mineral finish. A remarkable experience with many years of ageing potential.
One of Marlborough’s first wineries – established in 1985 – which put New Zealand on the world wine map. It harvests Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, among other varieties, from the best vineyards and rare parcels from the plantations of two emblematic wine regions – Marlborough and Central Otago.
