This wine comes from the northwest corner of Spain, from an ancient wine region, from the steep slopes of Bierzo. The dominant local variety is Mencía, with which Alvaro Palacios works exclusively on this estate. Petalos was selected from the 60-100-year-old bush-vine trained grapes of this variety. Warm and ripe, yet not heavy and instead spicy and smoky on the nose, then richly detailed on the long palate. One of the best buys among Spain's modern red wines.
