The Torres family started experimenting in the Penedès region with the then new Cabernet Sauvignon variety and its blending with Tempranillo more than 50 years ago. Gran Coronas soon became one of the family’s best and most popular wines, the making of which has not changed much since the 1960s. Fermentation takes place in steel tanks under controlled conditions, followed by long ageing in new and used French oak barrels for at least a year, then a year of ageing in the bottle that makes this wine really balanced. A full-bodied, balanced wine with an intensely fruity and spicy palate, with notes of blueberry, cassis and black pepper.
