The flagship wine of the joint venture between Robert Mondavi and Baron Philippe de Rothschild has become one of the world’s most sought-after wines, thanks to the extraordinary precision that defines the estate. Incoming fruit is sorted first by hand, then on optical sorting tables to ensure only perfect berries proceed to vinification. The current vintage is composed of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Petit Verdot, 6.5% Cabernet Franc, 5% Merlot and 0.5% Malbec as seasoning. The intense nose shows cassis and dried rose petals, complemented by tobacco and sweet spice notes. The palate reveals dark chocolate, black cherry and black tea.
